God Guides

Where should I go? What should I do? These are questions we ask every day as we try to navigate the endless circumstances of life, work, and relationships.

The Christmas story is a reminder of God’s guidance. Throughout the narrative, we see the Lord leading key figures to fulfill His plans. An angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, instructing him to flee to Egypt to escape King Herod’s evil plan to kill the newborn king (Matthew 2:13). Later, God led them back to Israel when it was safe (Matthew 2:19–20). Similarly, an angel of the Lord directed the shepherds to Bethlehem to witness the birth of their Savior (Luke 2:8–20). The Magi also seemed to have been providentially guided by a star (Matthew 2:2).

These examples remind us that when we are lost, we must seek God’s guidance. He brings light in the darkness of our lives, showing us the way to go. Just as He guided Joseph, Mary, and the shepherds, God guides us today through His Word, His Spirit, and His people.

Whether it’s a significant life decision or navigating challenges at work or at home, we must “first seek the counsel of the LORD” (1 Kings 22:5). When you seek Him, He promises to “direct your paths” (Proverbs 3:5–6 NKJV).

“Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.”

Psalm 25:5
Prayer

Lord, thank you for your constant guidance. When I don’t know what to do, show me the way. Help me to trust your plans and follow your path. In Jesus’ name, amen.
